I wanted to start this homage to elevate what is within each and everyone of you because of your hard work ethics, grit and dedication to failed schools that set you up to lag behind your “perceived” “better off” competition BUT YOU RULE IT ALL because you weren’t handed anything.
YOU WORKED WITH NOTHING given and EVERYTHING delegislated you.
Yep, you will miss walking across the stage
Yep, you will miss out on modeling your cap and gown
Yep, you will miss hearing pomp and circumstance
Yep, you will miss wishing your friends farewell and encouraging them to go out into society and BE GREATER
Yep, you will miss the PRIDE YOUR PARENTS WILL SHOW as they worked HARD to get you to this point and make sure you werent a statistic, THEY BEST WAY THEY KNEW HOW
Yep, you will miss the photo ops because after all, THAT DAY YOU WOULD HAVE BEEN THE CENTER OF ATTRACTION
Yet, this let down is nothing new
Yet, this let down is the norm for people like us
You were born during 9-11 during one of the worst tragedies of my lifetime
You daily walked through metal detectors
You daily had your personal space invaded by wands
You were feared by a lot of your educators because they viewed you as criminals
BUT YOU OVERCAME
BUT YOU PROVED TO YOURSELF WHAT INSPITE OF LOOKS LIKE
NOW, YOU STILL ARRIVED AT THE FINISHED LINE ANYWAY.
Yes, high school graduation is a RITE of PASSAGE of closing one chapter on your life’s book to starting and opening a new one
YOU STILL MUST WILL AND WIELD!!!!
If you don’t get the weight of what is going on in America that have been passed onto you all to RIGHT, WRITE, RITE 400 YEARS OF MALTREATMENT AND MALPRACTICE towards us, I AM HERE TO TELL YOU……
YOU ARE THE AGENTS OF CHANGE WE HAVE BEEN WAITING ON FOR 400 YEARS
I close with TAKE A BOW but with a twist;
