ELLA’S HOMAGE!

on June 17, 2020

I wrestled with 3 titles associated with you, the Honorable Mayor Ella M. Jones.

Ella’s TRInity, Ella’s TRIage and The TRIlogy of Ella and well here I am.

TRInity is 3 and in the bible it states that IT IS BLESSED.

So, as I fondly recall GROUND ZERO, embracing the emergency of America’s negligence and looking at this PANDEMIC what a theme we have here.

A TRIAGE has it’s own section of a hospital where those who were hit with illness or a casualty but the urgency of wounds are decided.

You are now coined as a TRIage nurse. You are now the head of a city that made America take notice of it blatant racism, legislative oppression, benign neglect and unjust policies and practices on an undeserving people.

You are now the head of a city that made America pause and understand its lack of empathy, known disrespect and understand the since of urgency vs. what can hold out just a little while longer…..

AMERICA IS AT EMERGENCY LEVEL AND IT IS URGENT THAT SHE RESPOND.

Ferguson ALWAYS has been

Ferguson is

Ferguson shall forever be etched in my world as GROUND ZERO.

It was those on the front lines that lived on the “wrong side of the tracks” who not only exposed but lead a movement that honestly never ended, THEY WERE THE TRUE AGENTS OF CHANGE.

They unlocked minds

They opened wounds

They  manifested truths

They were intentional

They were unapologetic

They were the TRUE HEROES AND SHEROES that lead us here.

Ferguson, MO was the catalyst of what we are witnessing today.

Ferguson, MO has strong and fierce soldiers.

Ferguson, MO understand the power of unity.

Ferguson, MO is full of warriors and agents of change.

Ferguson, MO is relying upon you to lead as we have always expected…..FOR ALL

TRIlogy is the study of 3 with one theme: JUSTICE, DIGNITY, RESPECT: FERGUSON, RESISTANCE AND UPRISING was because of the strength, will, power, fortitude and unity of YOUR community.

As we pause to honor you today as THE FIRST, I want to remind you of Ella’s Song by Sweet Honey in a Rock:

We who believe in freedom cannot rest. We who believe in freedom cannot rest until it comes. Until the killing of black menblack mothers’ sons. Is as important as the killing of white menwhite mothers’ sons…….
