I started my activisim work on EIU campus. As a Black woman, just like my predecessors; I too had to take matters into my own hands.

 

I felt outraged, humiliated, insulted, degraded and disrespected since my dollars paid for my education of higher learner and chose to buck the system, resist business as usual, be invisible and muted on campus.

 

As I type, I realize that my God sister showed me how to face injustice. DO NOT ALLOW IT to go unchecked.

 

It was there I found my voice. It was there I fine tuned my voice. It was there I realized that as a BLACK WOMAN on a college campus who chose to further my education as a single parent.

 

Witness the injustice on campus had to be stopped. I found myself to be an outspoken woman, organizer and activist on this campus.

 

WE HAD RIGHTS AND THEY WOULD NOT BE INFRINGED UPON; WE WOULD BE RESPECTED.

 

It takes courrage, strength, clarity, intentionality and boldness to demand what is yours anyway.

 

AMERICA USED TO JUST BLATANTLY AND OUTRIGHT DID MALCIOUSNESS, VICIOUSNESS, IMMORAL AND ILLEGAL ACTIONS TOWARDS US AFRICAN AMERICANS.

 

WHAT THEY DID THEN AND STILL DO ARE NOTHING BUT HOW THINGS HAVE EVOLVED INTO WHAT WE HAVE SEEN AND YET SEE BUT HAVE THE SAME RESULTS.

 

PRIVACY, POLICY AND PROCEDURES ARE LEGALIZED WAYS TO HURT, HARM, FRAME, MISTREAT, DEHUMANIZE, DISREGARD, DISRESPECT AND DISMEMBER AFRICAN AMERICANS AND THAT SHOULD COME TO AN END.
