THESE PEOPLE ARE DEDICATED, PROFICIENT, SKILLED AND IN CONTROL

THESE PEOPLE NEED TO BE HONORED, CELEBRATED AND APPRECIATED FOR THE JOB THAT THEY DO

THESE PEOPLE PICK UP OUR CHILDREN AND DROP THEM OFF SAFELY, THEY NEED TO BE SEEN AS THE PROFESSIONALS THAT THEY ARE AND NOT “just” A BUS DRIVER

THIS IS THE DAY I LOST MY MOM BIOLOGICAL MOM THE ONE I WANTED ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH GROWING UP BECAUSE, WELL SOCIETY PAINTED HER IN THE MOST DIM, GRIM, NEGATIVE AND WORST LIGHTENING POSSIBLE.

TODAY AS A MOM, GRANDMOTHER I NOW GET THAT SHE REALLY WAS A WARRIOR, CHAMPION AND FIGHTER FOR HER CHILDREN. SHE DIED OF A HEART ATTACK. A LOT OF THINGS I DIDN’T UNDERSTAND BECAUSE THAT GENERATION DIDN’T EXPLAIN ANYTHING TO THEIR CHILDREN BECAUSE WELL TODAY, I GET IT. IT WAS ALL FOR SURVIVAL SAKE.

MY MOM RAISED 6 CHILDREN, SHE GAVE HER LIFE SERVING AND GIVING TO MANKIND THAT WAS SOME SERIOUS RESISTANCE TYPE STUFF. YOU WOMEN OF COLOR WERE JUST DEFIANT I SEE NOW.

I SEE HER THROUGH NEW LENS AND WHAT IT AKES TO LOVE IN SPITE OF, UNCONDITIONALLY LOVE AND SUPPORT WHEN YOUR CHILDREN SPIT ON YOU. JUST AS SHE, YOU PICKED UP THE BATON AND BEGAN TO STAND IN HER STEAD. YOUR LOVE, YOUR ENERGY, YOUR HEART TO HEARTS ALL HAVE SHAPED ME INTO THE WOMAN I AM. YEP, YOU BOTH SERVED AND HAD HEARTS OF GOLD.

AND WHEN I CALLED YOU, I LOOKED UP YOU HAD A PAN OF FOOD AND YOU HELD ME AND I WILL FOREVER REMEMBER YOU HOLDING FROM MIDDLE SCHOOL UNTIL 2019. NOT NATURALLY BUT METOPHORICALLY.
